All of your friends from the Colorado town of South Park are here for
the big movie, and what a movie it is. Any boundary of tastelessness that
South Park hasn't yet cross has been shattered. For those of you who don't
know, South Park is a simple cartoon about Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny,
four kids living in South Park. The cartoon has outraged parents because
of the subject matter. It is definitely not a cartoon for kids. It is
also extremely funny, bitingly sarcastic, and a breath of fresh air.
Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, for those of you who don't know, has a double
meaning. The original title was South Park: All Hell Breaks Loose, but
the MPAA objected to the use of the word "hell." They also objected
to a lot more in the movie, originally rating it NC-17. The movie is laced
with almost non-stop cussing and sexual humor. Most of South Park is also
a parody of creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's battle with the MPAA,
enraged parents, and censorship.
All the kids on South Park love Canadians Terrence and Phillip. When
their new R rated movie, Asses of Fire comes out, they sneak in,
and hear new and inventive combinations of cuss words, and subsequently
repeat them at school. Their parents hear of it, and become enraged. In
a bizarre, yet hilarious series of events, war is declared on Canada,
and it is up to the boys to save everything.
South Park is definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended.
There will be something in this movie that will offend everyone, but it
is important to remember that it is a satire. And a damn funny one. Unexpectedly,
South Park is also a musical, filled with funny and offensive songs. The
jokes and parodies will leave you rolling in your seats. South Park is
everything that Austin Powers wanted to be and more.
